Finally settled at Bungendore for the evening. Taken on arrival at about 4.15pm before dinner and the TV news. Now content and snug.

It was a day of memories. Crashed for a bit on the roaring wind by the lake, Kings Park, but finally summoned the oomph to find a place to shower, hot, knowing it would be a shock. Turned out I had a shower and a swarm of memories all to myself at The Olympic Pool downtown. I was in the blue house for school swimming carnivals there, and dived from the highest platform, still considerably high, to try to impress other kids. Talked to girls there and we as kids were able to buy cigarettes from the rear kiosk. They came in packs of ten.

Lovely to clean up there and have a good look at it again.

Where I went. This is the “top oval” with Ainslie Primary as a backdrop. This is all dear to me.

Funny how I remember my class room, where also we watched the moon landing, plenty of rough and tumble sports such as British Bulldog and Forcings Back, and where the tuck shop was, sometimes called the canteen.

After the hospital, cold winds and a light splash of pink and purple.

If it weren’t for the Canberra rain these last days, in the overwhelming context of NSW floods, I may not have stayed so long un the one spot.

This is the one place I receive care and happiness, so I develop a deep bond for the people, extending into excerpts of meaning such as the dry patch showing where I parked.

Managed to photograph some colours today.

Lots of walking – 4 hours of it – in drizzle, sprinkle, rain and sunshine. Second day without a shower or any idea of what to do other than stay put and wait out the weather, so walked for sanity and circulation. Enjoyed it, very much.

From Garran shops to Phillip shops, and a cemetery in between.
