That’s a typical subject for landscape painters, but here to the east of Riverside Park it’s a little eerie. Because this section of floodplain valley has plenty of die back foliage, and the whole place is reminiscent of the suicide valley in Japan.

Incredible place.

Upstream. Enjoying lights against darks. Shapes and textures. The tide starting to trickle in, over the sandy muddy exposed low: new sustenance.

The lack of human sound here is deeply affecting. Precious.
