Another early waking. 3.41AM. No sleep since. Lovely night though.

Queanbeyan shower, then another lost cause day. Tried to iron with a cheapshit toy from ebay, no good at all. Bought a discount travel one from Myer and it leaked.

Then back at Brooks Hill an overnighter, still here, asked for a jump start. Told me he had run the battery flat in the car. Homeless, he said his mother stole from him. Said he had a spare battery in the car.

Seems a common theme. People wanting other people to solve their problems. This bloke couldn’t be arsed looking for his spare battery. Nice enough bloke though.

He might become another permanent here.

The rest areas are filling up with homeless.

    Colours at the Canberra lake.

  • Wind

Nonstop. Raging insatiable tormented wind day and night.

It’s now 3 PM. Between 2PM and 5PM the wind reverses direction. It hasn’t yet.

Woke at 3AM and been awake since. Walked around Canberra city in a tired and wasted-life daze. Back at Bungendore. Got away before the permanent stinky old bloke could get me. Others stayed overnight.

Through the one and only flyscreen after a night of at times buffeting wind and rain.

    Spectacular morning.

    4 PM

Nearly set up for a shower but the wind hurtled in quickly and more was forecast, so into Queanbeyan.

But earlier with breakfast oats on the cooker I caught a glimpse of the old permanent bloke’s filthy flannelette shirt, then watched as he looked through the front window close up, came around to the side window, same, then his dirty face no more than 18 inches from mine stared through the sliding door window, his face up to the glass.

    Fuck that.

He stared at the oats, then to me, “any chance I can get a jump start mate?”

I went up with the jump start kit, and got it going.

Now I’m concerned he’ll stare through the windows again, steal something (it was that kind of casing) and expects me to be his free nrma. I’ll have to verbally sort him out if so, which I’m not looking forward to.

At a loss all day with what to do and hating myself for it.

Extreme winds all day, and seems every day for a week. Very affecting and disconcerting.

So I walked all around Queanbeyan township, at least getting exercise in a wasted life.

    Insane winds.

Sun pushing through at Brooks Bungendore. Overcast early, eight drops of rain.

Strange night due to my serious car worries but ai slept through. Only time will make the worries go away. I really didn’t need the extra.

No idea what to do today. Just try to enjoy the country morning.

    4 PM

Shower in Queanbeyan, car went brilliantly. Checked out camping, electronic equipment and faffed around fyshwick and Canberra Centre, loaded up with water and drove back at 2.15PM. Seems a thunderstorm missed Brooks Hill and back to sun and flies.

Car went perfectly fine. Good news but next few days are all about the car. Otherwise I’d go out to Braidwood.

    7.55 PM

No rain. Hot. A couple of visits but shortly before dark it’s only me and the permanent old bloke.

No young disruptive kids last night that I know of, see how it goes tonight. I might stay in the one spot tomorrow. We’ll see.
