    Just now, night shot

    7 PM

Dreading the Pests of Waldrens Swamp. The Friday Threat of a kind all over again.

Showered by the river, then to storage to pay, then to the Bay.

Secured the inverter with cable ties a little bit, have to do more, and taped up the terminals and cut off switch.

Fiddle arsed a bit details of which I’ve forgotten. Bought a cheap small table at BCF which will help painting. Keen to get back into it.

The van is pretty shipshape now.

I’m the only one here, and it’s on dark. That’ll change, but it’s welcome being alone, for now, and since 2.40 approx.

..Oh yes. The world’s worst organisation, Australia Post, sent me a letter that was demonstrably wrong, stupidly wrong, and wanting payment for the box I’d already paid. The lady who served me when paying served me again when I showed her the letter.

    8.55 PM

Still for now the sole stayer.

Playing with traffic on the highway through the van window with night shot long exposure.

    Right now, through the flyscreen

    9.38 AM

    Wet Emergency.

Went down to the lower nth side boat ramp for toilets and breakfast, then filled tank up with tap water. Wanted the flow to clean it out a bit.

Then water started dripping from under the bed and I saw 2 inches flopping around in one of the visible containers. Was it the electrical one? If so lots of equipment was ruined.

I realised after too many damaging seconds looking for the problem that I’d left anothet tank hose valve open. Water just pouring into the van.

I shut it down and drove to the uphill section and got to cleaning it out and seeing the damage. The container was for clothes, thank goodness. Bluetti safe. Electrical had spatters like everywhere else. Jacket and vest soaked along with clothes.

Might’ve been extremely lucky there. Wow.

I was in a daze, too.

Now at the river shower spot. I’ll do it here then put clothes in a laundromat dryer.

    My outright stupidity. Must remember!!

Sunshine would help dry stuff out. Likely rain.

    2.17 PM

Put clothes and jackets through the dryer, got a new floor towel from Vinnies, dropped a skull cap and yet another plastic container to storage, and came to the quarry for a coffee.

While here I plugged in the Renogy remote switch and the alarm went ballistic. Got it sorted. Then plugged in a 240v plug and tried the beard trimmer. All good.

So I think now its all set up. I have 240 volts in the van.

Upside down to keep out the dust. I only want this because of the sealed angled plug on the other end. It’ll do for now.

    3 PM

Set up at Waldrens Swamp. Been mowed for a few metres around the bollards but not all the area.

I didn’t realise how wet the mats and floor towel got. Outside drying now although it alternates between sun and near rain constantly.

I got enough dry for my terrible mistake though. Boots and things still spread out, electricals tucked away.

Trying to decide what to do. It’s good here if the Pests don’t come down, costs-wise. Cheaper than Brooks Hill. Or I could go out to Yass. Have to be in Canberra for Wednesday eyes appointment.

    4.45 PM

This didn’t help, just now. Took a lot to turn this around.

It went lower but I was preoccupied with not going into a coma.

Everything is drizzle wet, but not cold. Lots of weird dreams through several sleep sections.

    5 PM

Long day. Showered in Moruya centre, then to Batemans Bay. To Industrial Replacements which cut my cable and added lugs, absolutely beautiful job. That was a major lasting worry for me but the guy couldn’t be more helpful nor do a better job. Super professional.

Then picked up indoor table lights from the post office. What a badly managed unpleasant place that can be. Terrible.

With heart in mouth I headed to the rugby oval carpark and started wiring the inverter. Fitted fuse, got the polarity on the cut off switch (up for on) and so on. Full on.

Turned it on and it beeped a warning, but only if I had the on/off switch a certain way: 3 settings, one is for the extension switch which might be the warning.

Drove to Waldrens and used a mirror to look in at the system lights. No beeps. All green. That was a buzz.

So tomorrow I’ll check the extension result, and try a 240v appliance. I have a feeling it’s working.

Then I added the ceiling lights which make a difference at the table. Ugly job but effective. They might fall down with the little screws and thin mdf. Easy enough fix.

So a big day that might prove to be consequential in time, having 240v, I think. Test tomorrow.

Been awake since 4.30 and it’s still dark The days are definitely starting later. This is the night shot mode vastly altering visible light.

Leaving this section after warming the engine, everything a lovely blue, even more mystifying and delicious on the way in to Moruya through the valley, gorgeous mist and fog.

All those trucks but one arrived while I was there.

    7.36 AM

    First rays:

    11.42 AM

A fucking mess, no room, raining, and dangerous low blood sugar.

    Fucking nightmare.

    Inverter is in

I tried a different mounting, horizontal, but the fans and sockets were blocked. Only way is this. The mounting legs are very, very badly designed. Almost idiotic.

    2.52 PM

At Waldrens, the cut off switch has gone in. Crap excess to storage on the way here.

Needs cables cut, but this is the impact.

Lost one shelf and the cables will hassle, but I’ve now done it and have to get used to it, and later what it can do.

Again, very difficult fitting for the switch, but this is the simplest and neatest.

    7.30 PM

Dark, but light captured by night shot.

Much nicer space today, the original clean lines. Rain outside, using the bin deflectors. Only two vehicles here, usuals these last days. Quiet and know the game.

Be good if the dripping rain keeps the late arrivals out.

Very muscle tired and sore from close awkward prolonged twisting work. Feels good.

The cabin is quite enjoyable now, after all this time and testing.
