  • Shower Water Heating

This thing is serious no-nonsense, no frills. Called a “mega jet” and that’s what sounds like. It’s a rocket booster upside down, under a pot that gets its arse absolutely harangued.

It’ll save money, comparatively convenient, heating the pot quickly. And LPG is cheaper.

I set it up and ran it for the first time today, making sure to get it away from the van, and from me. That’s not a scorched ground it’s on, it was like that already. But it illustrates the ferocity of this thing.

    Pleased now I got it.

    Further update.

Bitey chilly during the night, not much sleep and left at 5.15am to escape council workers. Spent the morning making a new switch for the pump. Very useful for showers. It’s on the end of an extension cable.

Did that down by the river where I could spread out.

    Then assembled the mega jet.

Then showered at Riverside away from everyone.

Lastly, bit the bullet and removed a clothes suitcase, walled tent that affixes the never-used awning, and a bunch of stuff, from the van. Trying to get it to travel lighter as I don’t want to labor it. Much better. Storage is chocker now.

    Last night’s "strawberry moon".

And then a shot of it setting this morning, taken about 15 minutes ago.

  • I’ve Gone LPG

The little butane canisters struggle after a very short while when on full bore, which is when I’m trying to heat water for a shower.

The roof carrier I put on can accept a gas bottle holder, but I’ve resisted doing it.

We’ll see how this system goes. A blaster of a cooker was on special, so if that can heat water quickly it’ll have been a bit of a godsend. Bugger the expense. Since I shower every day it’ll pay for itself soon enough.

Mainly though it should mean I can heat water on icy, windy days. Forget a shower in those conditions using the butane.

    Fingers crossed.

Morning in Moruya. Fog around. Crisp. And colour.
