Someone left this on a railing at Broulee.

Very full on winds this afternoon. Shower in the morning upstream, painted in a head net because of the flies. Filled the tank with water and hoping like hell the tent bloke doesn’t camp near me since two vans have got that spot. Can’t wait to get out of here, looks like Thursday though.

Left eye sore and giving me grief.

Woke to check the sunrise and weather and discovered the tent bloke naked changing underpants. Outside of his car, in public view.

I’ve been sickened and disgusted all day. It would be enormously more comfortable if the bloke doesn’t turn up today. In any case, it’s a police matter.

It’d be brilliant if he moves on.

Showered at the pool and got a call requesting the windscreen is done later. Booked in now for Wednesday instead.

Then to upstream to paint but the flies were insane Torrential assault. Packed up and went to my shower spot and painted there, but weather moved in.

Filled a script and came to the rest area to sew the offcut from the dashboard cover.

    Looks like rain soon.

Only worked on these paintings, under duress, but got them along after getting a couple more colours.

I’m super keen to get away from the coast. These people get to me as I wouldn’t choose them as neighbours, and here I’m forced to sleep near them.

Canberra is going to be healing.

Stayed in bed. Heavy sounding but sparse rain fell to which I woke at 4.30AM and enjoyed since, although clearing in the last hour. Cool, and soporific in the rest area. I don’t get to stay in bed at Moruya, vwhere I have to go today in preparation for a new and expensive, fuck it, windscreen tomorrow.

Think I’ll have a coffee and see if my acquaintance shows social signs so I can say goodbye and wish her well.

    Moruya

    11.50 AM

Well that was sad. I wrote C a note and left it in a plastic sandwich bag on the rest area’s table near to her, and got in the car and drove out. She came running out yelling to say goodbye.

A wonderful young woman, and I miss her very much. A sad drive north, but lovely to have met her and that I got to say goodbye.

The creep is in his car at Riverside Park so it’ll be okay out at Waldrens.

    5.50PM

The tent bloke arrived at 5.30 and noisy on the phone the minute he got here.

I yelled out the window, “Righto mate, enough!”

He looked and was quiet for a bit. He might come over. I’m not going to hold back.

    Thunderstorm. Lightning. Rain spatters. Dark.

    9.30 AM

At two o’clock yesterday afternoon a girl turns up with a little battery bank smaller than a mobile phone, holding out also a charging cable.

The panels were no longer charging so I knew it would deplete my backup. About an hour, she reckoned.

Six and a half hours later the little thing was still sucking it in, with 3 out of 4 lights full. She’d been up meanwhile. We agreed on another hour and a half. Still not full.

Then the night was troubled by repetitive music booming through the bush, and the chatting of the would-be permanent guy with the barking dog. Hard to tell whence the music, maybe them, or up at Brou lake. Still going at 2AM.

So both my miveable batteries are low, and it’s very overcast, and that bloke is getting more erratic and unsettled. His mates went and returned, so presumably another party and fire tonight.

I’ll paint what I can today, but this place is a powder keg. I am not comfortable here. If I have to go, I will.

    3.35 PM

Weather today did everything, it seemed. But it cleared sunny sufficiently for me to work on three paintings and charge the batteries, and charge my new acquaintance’s as well.

I boiled up a couple of buckets for her to shower, showed her how to do it and she was newborn after that, suffering as she has for 12 months. Really pleased to give her a lift.

Earlier had a chat with a traveller and terrific bloke, just passing through and staying in motels.

Been quite the human eventful day, socialising more today than I have in two years.
